T-Pain recently took a playful jab at Drake on the Crash Dummies podcast, suggesting the rapper reconsider his career choices.
T-Pain recalled a conversation with Drake, stating, “One thing I learned from Drake, but one thing he hasn’t followed his own words. Drake said, ‘I wanna be one of them people that gracefully bow out and not get kicked out.'” The remark, however, seemed to be laced with humor.
T-Pain continued to mimic Drake’s hypothetical inner monologue during their chat, portraying him as someone who constantly creates music without resting. “Drake is like, ‘No, listen. OK, I got another one. Hold on, check this out. Y’all ain’t like that one? OK, real quick, just one more. Let me try one more,'” he jested.
Drake, evidently keeping tabs on his peers’ comments, caught wind of T-Pain’s playful critique. Taking to Instagram, he shot back saying, “This guy always had resentment for me [laughing emoji]. You can hear it every time he speaks on my name.”
T-Pain didn’t stop there; he had previously speculated about Drake’s collaborative album with PartyNextDoor, suggesting it might consist of tracks that didn’t make the cut for other albums. According to T-Pain, “[Drake] recorded a bunch of shit [and] in order to keep PARTY around…” The idea was that Drake handed over songs to PartyNextDoor to fill out their project together.
In past incidents, T-Pain has preferred to stay neutral on the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. He expressed that choosing sides wouldn’t impact him, stating, “Drake or Kendrick? I choose to mind my fucking business. It ain’t got nothing to do with me.”
This playful back-and-forth between T-Pain and Drake highlights their unique styles and ongoing influence in the music industry.
