Lil Wayne and the Alleged Ghostwriting for Drake

New Orleans rap icon Lil Wayne might be the unsung hero behind many of Drake’s lyrics, at least according to Wayne’s son, Novi.

In an unexpected revelation, Novi spoke to TrillMarty on YouTube, confidently stating, “My dad wrote most of [Drake’s] shit. I mean, on God.” While he credited Lil Wayne for shaping Drake’s success, he acknowledged that Drake worked hard: “No disrespect to Drake. He hard.”

However, what remains unspoken are the details. Novi did not specify which of Drake’s hits might bear Wayne’s lyrical touch. Silence from both Lil Wayne and Drake adds another layer of intrigue to this story, leaving fans wondering about the truth behind the music.

Drake’s relationship with Lil Wayne has always been full of respect and admiration. Last year, Drake praised his “She Will” boss as “the most supportive boss in the game.” Their bond, fostered over years of collaboration, speaks volumes of their camaraderie and mutual respect.

Celebrations often highlight the depth of their friendship. Back in 2021, during Wayne’s 39th birthday, Drake was present to toast Wayne. “I still, to this day, get nervous speaking about this man,” Drake shared, highlighting Wayne as both a mentor and an idol.

The admiration is mutual. Wayne has defended Drake against critics on several occasions. In a podcast interview, Wayne humorously attributed some of the hate towards Drake’s light-skinned appearance, linking it to old schoolyard rivalries.

Meanwhile, Drake continues to show his love for Weezy. Pictures from past celebrations often surface on social media, showing moments of joy shared with Young Money’s notable figures. In one post, Drake proclaimed his loyalty with a caption, “YM FOREVER AND EVER.”

As fans eagerly await comments from Lil Wayne or Drake, Novi Carter’s statements have ignited fresh debates about the creative processes behind some of the biggest hits in hip-hop.
