OutKast to be Honored at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Come November 8, the legendary hip-hop duo OutKast is set to join the ranks of music greats at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles.

Adding a touch of magic to the event, renowned artists Killer Mike, JID, and Sleepy Brown will be taking the stage to usher the iconic duo of André 3000 and Big Boi into this prestigious club. Each of these performers shares a deep connection with OutKast’s groundbreaking influence on hip-hop, fashion, and music over the ’90s and ’00s.

Killer Mike, before his rise with El-P as part of Run The Jewels, was a second-generation member of the Dungeon Family. Fans might remember his standout verses on OutKast’s albums ‘Stankonia’ and ‘Speakerboxxx/The Love Below’. Mike’s collaboration history with the duo speaks to the significant contributions he has made to their legacy.

Sleepy Brown, on the other hand, represents one-third of the famed production team Organized Noize, which played a pivotal role in OutKast’s ascent to fame. Not only did he assist in producing major records for the group, but his occasional appearances made each track memorable. He has always been in tandem with the duo’s signature sound, marking his integral part in their musical journey.

Meanwhile, rapper JID, another fellow ATLien, often hails OutKast as one of his foremost influences. He worked alongside Big Boi on Masego’s 2021 track “Garden Party,” and more recently, offered fans a teaser of an André 3000 flute feature on the anticipated deluxe edition of God Does Like Ugly. His reverence for the duo comes from an authentic place, having grown up with their music as a backdrop to his life.

OutKast will become the 13th hip-hop act to be inducted, joining the esteemed company of legends like JAY-Z, Eminem, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Run-DMC, and Public Enemy. This year’s induction also celebrates veterans from rock, pop, and blues, including The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, and Bad Company, making it a night filled with diverse talents and musical history.

For those who can’t attend in person, the ceremony will be streamed live. Fans worldwide can join in to witness this electrifying night as OutKast takes their rightful place among the titans of music history.

OutKast’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a nod to their revolutionary impact on music and culture. This ceremony not only honors their storied career but also highlights their role in shaping the sounds of the future.
