Iggy Azalea has publicly accused her former partner Playboi Carti of being violent and struggling with addiction, setting the stage for a heated discussion.
The drama unfolded when Akademiks, a well-known personality, attempted to paint Iggy as a ‘jealous ex.’ This did not sit well with the rapper, who quickly took to social media to set the record straight. ‘Yes @Akademiks I DMd you! 24hrs later, you had zero response… Because you don’t want to report factual information or stand corrected in a public forum. That’s the truth,’ she stated, calling out his apparent neglect in getting the story right.
In a defiant tone, Iggy emphasized that her interest in Carti’s music career was nonexistent and dismissed the notion that she was campaigning against him. She noted, ‘I don’t care at all who listens to the music, or if he’s the most successful best selling rapper ever. It has zero effect on my life. Truly. I’m not campaigning for anyone’s demise.’
However, she did not shy away from discussing her personal experiences in their past relationship. ‘At the same time – I don’t think it’s a huge secret my experience involved a man who was violent & is (still) an addict – Im sorry, but that’s my reality & it does affect my life years later of course… because there’s a child involved,’ Iggy explained.

Reflecting on their turbulent relationship, Iggy opened up on Emily Ratajkowski’s podcast, shedding light on why she decided to leave shortly after Onyx’s birth. ‘Like, right after I had my son, I left his father,’ she confessed. ‘Something happened one day with my son’s father and me, and it was one of those moments where you’re just like, “I didn’t wake up thinking this is what my day would be.” But by the end of the day, I was on a plane to Los Angeles and I never went back.’
She further expressed her intentions to protect her son from a chaotic environment by saying she would never allow him to witness the same unrest she grew up with. ‘I didn’t think I was going to be leaving when I left. My father and my mother had such a volatile relationship that I wish I had seen less of it. And so that was what happened… I was like, I will never let my son see this because I don’t want him to see someone talk to me this way too, but because I don’t want him to ever learn this, I don’t want him to be exposed to this.’
