SZA Expresses Gratitude to Kendrick Lamar After Memorable Tour

Overwhelmed with emotions and gratitude, SZA took a moment to thank Kendrick Lamar for including her on the Grand National tour.

The Grand National tour, spearheaded by Kendrick Lamar, has made waves across the music world, breaking records and leaving unforgettable memories for fans and artists alike. Among those artists is SZA, who has publicly expressed her deep appreciation for Kendrick’s support during this journey.

In a heartfelt message on Instagram Stories, SZA wrote about the tour being the ‘craziest, most once-in-a-lifetime experience’ she has ever had. With a burst of nostalgia and disbelief, she thanked every individual who played a part in making the tour happen, with a special shout-out to Kendrick himself.

During one of the tour stops in June, SZA and Kendrick shared a touching moment on stage. Overcome with emotion, SZA remarked, ‘He put me onto the biggest moment of my life. This is also the biggest moment of my life… I’m so thankful, and I’m so thankful to y’all.’ Their bond was evident as they shared a warm hug before continuing to perform.

Though the experience was memorable, SZA confided about her initial hesitation. In an interview with Chappell Roan for Interview Magazine, she revealed her struggles with anxiety and self-doubt, which often led to panic attacks before performances. Despite these challenges, she was determined to persevere through uncertainty.

SZA admitted, ‘Every time I had to go on stage, every time I had to get on a carpet, I’d have full-on panic attacks. I used to not show up to something because it was like, “I’m never going to win. No one cares that I’m here. Why would I go?”‘ This self-doubt even cast a shadow over her participation in the Kendrick tour, initially making her question her own appeal compared to the rap icon.

However, as the tour progressed, SZA adopted a different mindset. Embracing a new attitude towards uncertainty, she decided to see where this opportunity could lead. She expressed a newfound sense of freedom, stating, ‘Now it’s just like, “Fuck it. I don’t have anything else to do, and I want to see where this door is going to lead. I want to walk through the door. I want to see what happens in the uncertainty.”

Kendrick Lamar, meanwhile, continues to expand his reach, having announced additional stadium dates in Australia, featuring another talent, Doechii. The success of the Grand National tour and the friendships formed along the way are testament to his artistry and leadership in the music industry.

SZA’s journey on the Grand National tour with Kendrick Lamar was a transformative experience, filled with both challenges and triumphs. Her gratitude for Kendrick’s support highlights not only their professional collaboration but also their personal friendship, making this tour an unforgettable chapter in her career.
