Who Calls the Shots: Jim Jones or Nas

In a surprising twist, Jim Jones has thrown down the gauntlet, claiming he’s a superior rapper to Nas. During a chat on the Joe & Jada Podcast, Jones didn’t hold back, challenging Nas’ musical dominance.

“I was a superior Nas fan but when you get into the game you realize your idols be rivals,” Jones said, stirring the pot. He boldly stated that his catalog, packed with gold and platinum records, surpasses Nas’ influence. Moreover, he dismissed the notion of nostalgia playing a role in Nas’ legendary status, asserting that when comparing Billboard entries, he comes out on top.

Jones declared, “Let’s keep it a buck, I’m spanking everybody with my catalog even without Dipset, pull up my Billboard entries then pull up Nas Billboard entries right now in 2025. I gotta be honest, no disrespect.” His confidence shines through as he calls for a direct comparison of their musical achievements.

Meanwhile, Jones also had some harsh words for the Clipse, particularly after their latest release “Ace Trumpets.” Speaking at the BET Awards with Bootleg Kev, he showed little regard for the Virginia duo’s work. “What’s so great about it? It’s good in what? The nostalgic value of it?” he questioned, adding that he doesn’t even listen to their music.

Jones’ critique didn’t stop there. He’s been vocal about Pusha T’s inclusion in the list of top rappers of all time. “What has he done that puts him in the greatest rappers of all time? Besides talk about cocaine that he probably didn’t get himself,” Jones said. This sparked a back-and-forth between the two, culminating in Pusha responding with a diss track premiered at a Louis Vuitton fashion show.

Jones is clearly unafraid to voice his opinion in the hip-hop arena, challenging icons and sparking debates. Whether or not his claims hold water, one thing is clear: Jim Jones isn’t backing down from any rap royalty.
